Enthroned plays quite speedy melodic black metal. They've been around for about 10 years now and they've always been faithful to their style (they've never tried to differ from the mass). I've never been a fan of them, and one thing is for sure: this album doesn't change it.

"What a disappointment", one could say about Enthroned's 6th album 'XES Haereticum'. The song material is quite weak and only few of the songs barely exceed the average level. I expected a lot more from this album. I thought they would have diversified their songs (which they unfortunately haven't done).

XES Haereticum has quite a standard production. It isn't horrible, but it ain't great either. Mostly the sounds are apposite (although they could be better). Mastering-wise there's not much to complain.

Fans of Enthroned might find this release interesting, but I'm not sure if it has anything new to offer. Be sure to listen before buying!
