My Early Mustang is a new group, although its members are by no means newcomers in the modern rock scene. The band was founded in the beginning of 2003, and it consists of Tim Eiermann and Wolfgang Maier of Liquido, Florian Kämmerling (Flyswater) and Andreas Rigo (Tristesse). My Early Mustang has previously released a single and a mini CD, and now they release their first full-length album titled simply as "My Early Mustang". My Early Mustang plays quite ordinary modern rock (so it's no surprise their music lacks originality). Occasionally the vocals could have been a lot more pleasant to listen to (I find some vocal parts a bit annoying). Also the somewhat predictable songs and boring song structures can't keep me intrigued for more than few listens. Nevertheless, there are few songs that are better than others (which I even enjoy listening to). Those songs contained catchy melodies and riffs that might have some "commercial" value. Production on this album is quite average... It's good, but it has few frailties (for example, some of the sounds could have been better). Another frailty is the distortion, which occurred every now and then (however, it's quite unnoticeable for the most part). All in all, My Early Mustang is quite an average modern rock album. It has few "highlights" such as 'Driving Down' and 'How it Ends'. Nonetheless, the material on this album is mostly mediocre... Listening before buying is recommended.
