Haterush hails from Sweden, the land of many good metal bands. "Mark of the Warrior" is their debut album, and it's full of powerful metal... Originally the band's intention was to make a high quality demo, but instead they ended up with a full-length album. The band signed a deal with the Greek metal label, Black Lotus Records.

To my surprise the songs are actually rather good. The material is mainly melodic power metal with "retro" heavy metal vocals (raspy, but still quite nice to listen to). However, the singer could be better. The lyrics are quite cheesy (as usually with power metal). For example, "Titans Will Fall" has the following verse "I'm just another hero, striving to get through". Judging by the lyrics, Haterush is a fantasy metal band.

Production on "Mark of the Warrior" is quite good, as the recordings are quite clean. However, when power metal is at hand, the production must be powerful as well... Unfortunately, Haterush's songs lack power in terms of sound (the sounds need to be stronger).

Mark of the Warrior ain't bad debut album. With a stronger production, it would have been quite good. The songs aren't too clichéd (characteristic of which quite many power metal bands suffer).
