The legendary Tony Carey (Rainbow etc.) continues his Planet P Project with a new release "1931: Go Out Dancing Part One", which is the first part of g.o.d. trilogy (according to Carey, the second part is already in production and the third one is almost written). The Planet P Project started back in 1983, when Carey needed a method to release a certain style of music that didn't fit in with his other work released under his own name. That certain style is a blend of pop oriented electronic and melodic progressive rock (or something like that). In total this is the third Planet P Project album, 19 years have passed since the release of Pink World (his second album, which has been compared to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" in terms of depth and intensity).

The material on this album is both groovy and melodic (there are some very catchy sections). Although most of the songs are good, there are few "weaker" tracks... For example, "Work (Will Make You Free)" definitely doesn't belong to my favourites. Nevertheless, this album must be listened as a whole due to its conceptual nature, otherwise you can't grasp the whole concept behind it. However, I'll name few listening recommendations: "Waiting for the Winter" and "Where Does It Go?" are certainly among the best tracks on this album.

Production on this album is quite good... The sounds are rather clean and atmospheric. However, the distortion that occurred every now and then degrades the production rating (fortunately it didn't occur too often). By the way, Tony Carey himself produced this album.

All in all, "1931: Go Out Dancing Part One" is really memorable album... Although it isn't for everyone, I'd recommend you to give it a listen or two at Mindawn (check out the news page for information about Mindawn).
