My Shameful was founded by Sami Rautio and Harri Jussila in 1999. After releasing three demos, the band got a record deal. Nevertheless, Sami Rautio was the only member in the "band" on the first album 'Of All the Wrong Things'. The second My Shameful album '...of Dust', however, features a drummer Mark Napier. In addition the band has acquired two live musicians for touring (Mario Hahn and Twist). My Shameful plays slow "funeral" doom metal with lyrics handling depression. Although there are some good elements here and there, the music unfortunately tends to sound quite monotonous. Especially with albums of this genre, the music should compellingly take the listener to a journey. '...of Dust' never managed to take off completely, so the journey ended before it even began. Sami Rautio handled the mixing, which has been done quite adequately. The sounds are definitely on the "better half" of doom metal albums. Nevertheless, cymbals and guitar, for example, could have been mixed better. Andreas Balaskas mastered this album at Masterlab in Würzburg, Germany. His contribution to this album is good as I don't have much to complain about mastering. My Shameful's ...of Dust is an album that certainly pleases some doom metal fans. Nevertheless, my experience of it remains as a second-rate album. However, if you're a casual listener of doom metal, you might want to check My Shameful out and decide for yourself.
