Element V is the debut album of Australian band Voyager. Their music is a mixture of several music styles, namely melodic metal, power metal, black metal and occasionally even progressive metal and electronic music. However, at all times their music stays quite accessible. One way of showing their diversity is that I can't exactly name a band that is similar to Voyager. However, there are bands that share some similarity to Voyager (for example, Time Machine and Labÿrinth).

Since Voyager's style consists of many genres, also vocals are varying... On Element V you'll hear both clean mid-range vocals (reminding of Time Machine and other Italian prog-metal bands) and black/death metal grunting. Although I consider diversity of a record as a benefit, others might value the accessibility of a record more.

Sounds on Element V are quite fitting... In my view, only the rhythm guitar tone needs some tweaking (it had too much fuzz). The recordings are rather clean (there was one clip, but other than that there's nothing else to complain about).

Overall, Voyager's Element V is a good debut album... Listeners of diverse melodic metal might want to check it out. The most laudable aspects of Voyager's music are the melodies and diversity. Element V definitely got me intrigued to hear their upcoming albums...
