Anger is a Portuguese nu-metal band (formed back in 1994) that wishes to liven up the modern metal genre. Nevertheless, their approach isn't that original and thus they fall into the chasm of mediocrity. Although Anger has better songs (to some extent) than the average nu-metal band, they still have room for improvement. This is their third album, titled as 'The Bliss', and it was originally released in September 2003 in Portugal.
The balance of material on this album is quite good, since the Bliss is more varying than the average nu-metal albums. Pedro Pereira uses both clean vocals and screams accordingly to the music. However, there's something missing from this album... Too many songs wash over without leaving any traces into one's memory (there should be more hooks).
The Bliss was recorded in Area 51 Studios, Hannover, with producer Tommy Newton (Helloween, Guano Apes and Victory among others)... The sounds are fitting, but there are some impurities present. For example, slight distortion occurred on the intro of "Nenemy". Nonetheless, surprisingly the mastering is not-as-hot as the modern metal scene's standards seem to be. All in all, the sounds could have been a bit heavier and more 'full' to suit the music thoroughly.
The Bliss is an average nu-metal album, which might appeal to certain listeners of the genre. Regardless, listening beforehand is recommended.
There's a sample of "Say (What You Wanna)" on the Mist of the Morning Dew website for you to listen.
