Unholy Ghost is a new death/black metal group formed by Aantar Lee Coates, Paul Ouelette and Jerry Mortellaro (all founding members of Diabolic) together with Kelly McLauchlin from Pessimist. This album is the band's debut. I don't listen death/black metal normally but I gave this band a chance since the record was promoted to offer something new in the genre. Because I tend to like clear vocals with "sane lyrics", varying tempo and guitar virtuosity that are not usually associated with the genre, I wasn't expecting much from this record.

The first two tracks were quite typical death metal, but then track 3 "Eyes of Lost" was a song that offered versatility not usually heard with death metal bands. Guitar solos of some other tracks were also well suited to the music and I have to say that other death metal bands should also strive for more versatile songs.

Overall, I can say that this record is class A death metal with some freshness. Fans of bands like Morbid Angel, Krisiun, Vital Remains and Cannibal Corpse are likely to enjoy this kind of music. However, I'm not a fan of this kind of music and thus, this affects the rating.
