The Swedish doom metal band GravE FlowerS was already formed in 1993 as a one-man project by Matte Andersson. Since then the band has also gained another permanent member, Jason Jansson. Their debut album took rather long time to form and it wasn't released until the July of 2000. Incarcerated Sorrows is the second GravE FlowerS album, and for the first time in GravE FlowerS history, it features real drums instead of using a drum machine. The drums were performed by session musician Jakob Bäckman.

The music on 'Incarcerated Sorrows' is atmospheric blend of doom metal and melodic gothic rock. The compositions rely strongly on atmospheric soundscapes and emotional leads (whether they're guitar or piano driven). The vocalist Matte Andersson's voice is occasionally very fitting although it isn't especial in any way. However, at times some other singer would improve the songs to a certain degree.

The production of this album has been handled rather well. The sounds are apposite (very atmospheric as they should be), and the mastering has been done rather successfully as well. Overall, GravE FlowerS' Incarcerated Sorrows is an album worth checking out in case you listen to music falling to this category.
