Instinct is the second album of the Norwegian black metal band Celebratum. Surprisingly the songs on this album are rather melodic with dual-guitar leads and furious blast beating. Romul (the vocalist), on the other hand, represents the rougher side of the band while he brays. He doesn't represent the élite of Black Metal singers by any chance.

The songs on this album are a bit repetitous on occasion (due to the massive use of blast beats). However, the album still has enough appeal to keep the listener's concentration on the album. Overall, the material is just above the average black metal album... with a bit more innovative approach regarding songwriting and with better production this album would keep its long-term interest for a lot longer period.

The production on this album is rather weak... the sounds are a bit thin, although they should be the opposite. In addition, some background noise and distortion is audible every now and then. All in all, Instinct is rather average black metal album with a production that leaves a lot of room for improvement.

There are samples of "Riders of Storm", "Time Dwell" and "Ecstasy of Pain" on the Metal Age website for you to listen.
