Forbidden Dimension is the second album of Francesco Fareri, a guitar shredder, who's best known from his speed-oriented guitar playing. Unfortunately, Fareri hasn't invested enough time to develop songs and melodies... instead "Forbidden Dimension" sounds a bit rushed (for the most part). The songs don't have a lot to offer to the listener (even if the listener is a guitarist, song material is more or less meaningless). Basically, this album contains mindless shredding without any real memorable melodies... the compositions are simply combinations of ideas knitted together without any distinct direction. Nonetheless, at times there are some successful moments as well (regrettably they represent minority on this album). Sonically this record could have been better... the mix sounds kind of thin, and especially the drums need a lot more focus. On top of all, the rhythm guitar tone doesn't sound too good. All in all, this album proves to be quite a disappointment. However, if you're into speedy guitar shred, you may find Francesco Fareri's material worth getting acquainted with (especially if you listen to Vitalij Kuprij, who's actually one of Fareri's main influences).
