Firstly I have to admit Redemption's second album "The Fullness of Time" is one of this year's releases that I have anticipated... mostly due to their very successful debut album, which received praise in the medias all over the world. This LA-based progmetal group was originally founded in the late 2000. Back then the line-up was quite different from today's, but the core member of the band, Nicolas van Dyk, together with Ray Alder has continued to cultivate the sound of Redemption.

The material on The Fullness of Time is melodic yet heavy progressive metal. Although I find some of the songwriting highly successful, few arrangements definitely could have been better. Nonetheless, on average Redemption's new offering is rather good album. The playing is tight, and the Fates Warning vocalist, Ray Alder, performs well and enlivens the songs with his spirited delivery.

Van Dyk selected Tommy Newton (Conception, Ark, Helloween and UFO) to handle the mixing and mastering of this record. In regard to sounds, there isn't much to complain... with a bit more honing, this album would have been a must-buy to every fan of progressive metal. In the raw, The Fullness of Time might take your fancy if you like bands such as Fates Warning, Dream Theater and the like.
