Lifeforce is the fourth album of Norwegian heavy metal act Griffin... this group was already formed in 1998, but not until now did I listen to them for the first time. Unlike the majority of Norwegian metal bands, Griffin chose to play classic heavy metal instead of black metal. Their goal of focusing on the energy and vitality of the best bands from the '70s and the '80s has remained through all these years, and that's clearly audible on Lifeforce. Actually the vibrant harmonies and lush melodies are Griffin's strengths... however, the originality and innovativeness of the material have a lot to wish for.

Production-wise there are no grave faults on this record. The sounds are apposite - powerful without being boomy. If one enjoys listening to classic heavy metal groups of the '70s and the '80s, then checking out Griffin might be a good idea.
