Catchy songwriting has always been one of Mattias Eklundh's strengths... With his band's 'debut' album (he released a web album 'Junk Tooth' earlier, but it wasn't a real commercial album), he takes you back to 80's, but songs aren't too cheesy... Actually I find them quite entertaining. Mattias' guitarplaying is top class and his playing style is quite unique... He really likes to use pinch harmonics (of which all aren't so fond of).

Anyway, FK's Appetizer is a great metal album, which you should definately check out (if you aren't allergic to 80's metal and even if you are, you should check it out anyway). Mattias' is quite a funny guy, and it shows in his lyrics..."Everyone looks at her / She only looks at me" and "Rented a limo to pick you up from work / But you didn’t see me, I felt like a jerk / I bought you flowers so you would be impressed / Then you’re allergic, well, I should have guessed". I believe you got my point.

Appetizer has also one instrumental song, which is really great song. If you've listened to Devin Townsend's Terria, you might find some similarities (note that this album was made in 1994, so maybe Devin has listened to Freak Kitchen for inspiration, who knows).

Tonewise, I'll have to admit that the guitar tone is maybe just a little bit too fuzzy, but it doesn't disturb so you can still enjoy the music.
