After eight years in the doldrums, Sieges Even returns to the progscene with a brand new album "The Art of Navigating by the Stars". What's also new with this reunion is the new-found singer Arno Menses, who complements the music effortlessly. It seems that the band has matured, as the songs sound more whole than before. After listening to this album a couple of times, I already can say it has become my favourite among the Sieges Even work (in many respects to the singer offering new blood to the group).

Musically this record has its ups and downs... at times the material is downright brilliant, but unfortunately there are also some shortcomings along the line. Nonetheless, more often than not listening to this record remains gracious. More specifically, apart from the gimmickry and bothersome repetition this album definitely appeals even to a widespread audience.

The production of this record is rather good. Nonetheless, cymbals and few other details of the mix could have been slightly improved. Overall, The Art of Navigating by the Stars is definitely an album worth checking out.
