This four-piece from Detroit is relatively new entrant in the prog rock scene. Their debut album was released in January 2004 by their own independent label, Split Difference Records. However, the group has garnered critical acclaim, and thus was signed to ProgRock Records in September, 2004. Consumption is the band's second album, and presents what creative old school prog can nowadays sound like. Appealing harmonies lead the way for a pleasant sonic journey. The songs often contain a certain surprise factor, which ensures that listeners' interest won't fade away. Nonetheless, the music also has some kind of 'pop' appeal to it at times. Consumption was primarily recorded at Windfall Recording, Hammondsport, New York. Mastering was handled at M Works Mastering Studio, Cambridge, Massachusetts by Jonathan Wyner. It becomes quite clear the sounds have been engineered proficiently when one gives this CD a spin. I recommend Consumption for all the lovers of retro progressive rock.
