"The end is near, the time has come", those are the rantings of Beelzebub on "Doomsday Prophecy", the third track on their seventh album "The Bloody Path of God". However, the album doesn't even have to reach to the third track, since already from the beginning the quality of material manages to give impression of cogency. The tightness of the performance on this record is awe-inspiring as well... it really does show that Mystic Circle's active touring schedule bears fruit.

This haunting album contains gripping riffs, occasionally gushing blastbeats, all in a gloomy atmosphere accompanied with ranting of Beelzebub. The band explores between the boundaries of black metal and death metal creating a soundscape of their own. Every now and then also some symphonic elements have been added to enhance the listening experience. Nonetheless, at times the songs tend to sound a bit similarish.

The Bloody Path of God was recorded with producer Alex Koch at the 'State of the Art Studios' in Ludwigshafen. Overall the sounds on this record are quite to the point... they're surprisingly dry and fairly assertive. In case you're intrigued, be sure to give this one a spin.
