The debut solo record from the vocalist of Creed, Scott Stapp, has definitely been one of the most anticipated recent rock releases at least amidst fans of Creed. I have to confess that I, for one, had my hopes up regarding this album. However, The Great Divide isn't quite as good as I had wished... unquestionably it's what one can expect from Scott Stapp - a very Creedish rock album, but in the long-run it's fairly customary record. It doesn't surprise the listener in any way, but serves its purpose well as background music to which one can sing along. Stapp himself produced this album together with John Kurzweg, and apparently their collaboration worked well - the Great Divide sounds rather good. When mixing the album, Stapp had a helping hand from Ron Saint-Germain on all tracks except "The Great Divide". Mastering, on the other hand, was handled by the famed Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering. All in all, The Great Divide is a moderate rock record that will most likely appeal to majority of the fans of Creed. Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (April 18th, 2006) « back
