Megadeth is one of the few bands that almost every metalhead has listened to. Virtually each fan knows Mustaine's intention of making the band more popular than Metallica due to his early experiences with this group from which he was kicked out. His material was actually "stolen" for the first Metallica album, though perhaps "borrowed" would be more appropriate term. Unfortunately, Mustaine hasn't been able to outdo Metallica in popularity... yet. However, everyone who has listened to Megadeth should agree that Mustaine's group beats Metallica in musicianship. This is really perceptible on their latest release "Arsenal of Megadeth", which features over 2 and half hours of material.

Arsenal of Megadeth is the first career-spanning collection DVD of Megadeth. It contains 20 original music videos, live footage from some concert appearances, interviews, tv appearances, as well as hidden treasures from rehearsals and video set among others. The whole collection has been compiled well, and it was a pleasure to view. I actually found a hidden scene link already on my first view, so fortunately enough they aren't too hard to find.

This collection spans two DVDs, so the quality of the material is really high - at least if the source has been good. Naturally some footage, for example regarding Mustaine's personal collection and older tv appearances, isn't nearly as good as the professionally shooted music videos. Sonically Arsenal of Megadeth is rather good too. Nonetheless, some distortion is audible every now and then (take "No More Mr. Nice Guy" for example).

All in all, Arsenal of Megadeth is a great addition to your thrash metal collection. It's definitely a recommended buy. One of the most thrilling aspects of this release is that it offers a cross-section of Megadeth's career, so you'll see how the group has progressed throughout these years.
