The third album from the Australian melodic metal group Vanishing Point took me by surprise... the album offers fairly pleasant melody-rich power metal with slight hints of progressivity here and there for nearly eighty minutes. What's even more, the band balances between more rocking tunes and ballads effortlessly.

Vanishing Point is definitely a technically gifted band, as all the group's members seem to know their instruments well... their performances on this record are to the point, and the music is mostly engrossing (though some parts aren't quite to my liking). With regard to genres, Vanishing Point blends both power and progressive metal into cohesive melodic metal on their album.

The production on Embrace the Silence could have been better in some ways... though the mix is balanced and mastering has been handled fairly well, one can't help but notice that some instruments - synths, for example - sound "cheap" at times (a boost in 8-12 kHz range would have fixed that). Regardless, Vanishing Point's Embrace the Silence is relatively good prog/power metal album that's definitely worth checking out if you're more into mellow melodic metal...
