Power metal is a genre that doesn't appeal to me that much anymore. I've grown weary of listening to bands that all sound the same and never have anything new to offer to the genre. Fortunately Blind Guardian still has the energy to do quality records that impress even the long-time listeners of power metal. Their latest record A Twist in the Myth contains pleasingly varying song material, and the album has long-time appeal to it.

The production on A Twist in the Myth is pretty good, and overall there are no big shortcomings on this record. The songs are surprisingly catchy, though as a whole the album has its ups and downs. I recommend this record to all listeners of symphonic power metal, as Blind Guardian is without a doubt one of the best artists in this scene.
