Oh how disappointed I was when I first heard the title track of Europe's Secret Society featuring annoyingly high-pitched vocals. I have to admit thinking that I was going to face an utterly weak record, but fortunately that song proved to be the worst track on this album. From there on the material remained rather consistent and pleasing to listen to. I'm currently on my ninth listen and what's most evident on this new album of theirs is that Europe's songs have become brighter than on Start from the Dark. This might be due to Tempest having more say regarding the material this time round, while Norum has only co-written three songs.

The production on Secret Society is good, unsurprisingly so knowing that Stefann Glaumann and George Marino handled mixing and mastering of this record. In case you fancy listening to catchy hard rock tunes with a bit more modern sound than in the 80s, go grab yourself a copy of Europe's Secret Society.
