Symphonic metal is pretty popular these days, and although Sirenia isn't one of the best-known acts on the scene, their music is fairly good to say the least. As you may already know, Henriette Bordvik is no longer a member of Sirenia. Fortunately enough she was replaced by a talented Danish singer Monika Pedersen (Sinphonia) whose voice suits the music rather well. Titled as Nine Destinies and a Downfall, Sirenia's third full-length album delivers exactly what one has grown to expect from this group - a mixture of orchestral music and atmospheric metal with catchy melodies, gripping grooves and combination of clean and guttural vocals as well as choirs.

The sounds on this record are pretty good and well-balanced. The material ranges from heavier songs to slower-paced melancholic tunes, and is rather diverse yet cohesive. As a whole, this album is definitely a step forward for Sirenia, and only makes one anticipate their forthcoming releases.
