On their latest release Testify, the Finnish rock group Feiled have dropped off the Him-influences in favour of emo-tinted rock with some slightly schizophrenic and insane riffs, which actually sound groovy in the end. Overall, I'd describe the music on this record as retroish rock with some post-hardcore influences. On average the songs are somewhat uninspiring, but they build up quite a bit and some eventually turn into rather good tunes. However, the production falls a bit short with the occasional peaks crossing 0dB's mark. Hence Svante Forsbäck should take some classes on mastering records, because it's starting to become more of a rule than exception that his mastering is ruining records. All in all, Feiled has come up with somewhat dubious record - in some ways it's actually intriguing to listen, but also at the same time the music wears the listener out if the record is put on the background for a longer while. The material, however, is nicely varying, and Testify doesn't get too repetitive even in the longer run. Therefore it's quite safe to say, this album really does have quite schizophrenic nature.
