The Swiss rockers Gotthard have once again recorded an album not to be ignored in case one likes to listen to melodic hard rock. The quality of material on this record is astonishing - 14 tracks and all of them are excellent examples of how melodic rock songs should sound. The songs are varying, and the record doesn't lose its appeal even with continuous listening. The vocalist Steve Lee's charismatic voice adds a nice edge to the songs, while the lyrics have depth to them making Domino Effect an intriguing album to listen to.

Domino Effect is also good production-wise... the mix is fairly balanced, but somehow the sounds feel a bit too soft. Especially the bass drum could have been slightly more edgy. Other than that, the production is really apt for this record. Leo Leoni together with Ronald Prent (Rammstein, Herbert Groenemeyer among others) handled their duties rather well. All in all, Gotthard's latest offering proves that this group still has what it takes to craft an album full of great songs only in 6 weeks.
