The latest album by hard rock group Scorpions is based around a concept created by Sir Desmond Child and futurist Liam Carl. It tells about a "world torn apart by a civil war between humans and robots" - so it's an album based around the same theme as the movie "Terminator". Much to my surprise, this theme works well for Scorpions. They really have reinvented themselves, as this album features modern rock and metal with gripping rhythms, enthralling vocal harmonies and overall atmospheric compositions. The production on Humanity - Hour 1 has been handled with great care, and the sounds are rather apt. I'd go as far as call this one of the best, if not the best, Scorpions album to date. Some of the most memorable parts on this record are wittily borrowed, and especially the Queen moments cut through as impressive. Definitely worth adding to your record collection, despite its few shortcomings (such as, the decline of the quality of material to moderate at times).
