Korn has always been a daring band, and have tread its own path. Listening to their past releases, it becomes evident this band has continually grown and evolved. Although the group has shrunk into a trio, their eighth album sounds fresh and inventive yet stays faithful to their roots. Surprisingly they didn't title this album. An apt decision, which is explained by Davis “This album felt like it didn’t need to have a title or boundaries, We thought it would be cooler for fans. Metallica had a Black album, the Beatles had a White album, and Peter Gabriel put out a bunch of albums he didn’t title. We’re throwing it out there and letting people use their minds and imaginations.” The music is quite experimental, yet the songs are catchy and flow well. Despite the breadth of material, this record sounds rather intact in its entirety. Korn especially makes good use of dynamics and ambience. The material is of quite steady quality, and in my view there aren't any obvious standout tracks - instead this album improves with time and should be listened in its entirety. All in all, Korn's untitled release is a well-produced record showcasing the growth of the founders of nu metal. Buy this release from Amazon Visit Artist's Website - MAGE (November 6th, 2007) « back
