Progressive metal group Forgotten Suns' third album Innergy features some rather nice song writing and varying structures. On a closer look the music almost has a jigsaw approach to composition, which breaks the flow slightly at times. Their music shares rather strong resemblance to some of the better known groups, namely Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation and Opeth, with some surprising influences scattered here and there such as the easily distinguishable System of a Down riff on "News" along with other shamelessly "borrowed" melodies.

At its peak, Forgotten Suns plays surprisingly catchy progressive metal, but unfortunately many of their ideas are familiar from other better known artists. Furthermore they succumb to unnecessary gimmickry every now and then. Best parts on this album are the occasional breaks where the group decides to take slower-paced direction with their music. Sadly the singer's performance isn't on par with the rest of the musicianship heard on Innergy. However, the vocalist does have his moments too and overall the album is enjoyably adventurous.
