Judging by cover, I didn't know what to expect musically from Anyone's Daughter (I've never heard of them before)... But after hearing the first minute of the record, I already was favourably impressed with it. After listening the whole album, I had to play it again. Although the singer doesn't possess the best voice, he ain't bad. He has somewhat nice raw edge to his voice.
Songs are melodic rock with some progressive elements here and there. Especially some synth parts are impressive, I quite like them (they're catchy, yet progressive). Anyone's Daughter's songwriting skills are good. Because this album has quite even quality on songs, I can't name my favourites. All of the songs have their good parts, but some of them have also little space for improvement. Nevertheless, there was one poor song on this album. 'Helious Reloaded' was worst song by far (I didn't like it at all). Piano has been used a lot on their songs, but fortunately there isn't a lot of reiteration.
Production-wise this album has been done professionally... All the sounds are felicitous and the overall sound is very clear (it's kind of raw as well, without lacking atmosphere). Some slight distortion and clipping could be heard few times... fortunately not too often (most of them occurred in 'Without You').
I didn't know what to expect from Anyone's Daughter, so I wasn't hoping for much (I thought Wrong would be a mediocre record). However, Anyone's Daughter exceeded my expectations and I'll definitely want to hear their upcoming records. I recommend you to check them out, you might end up liking their music. Regardless, their music isn't for everyone so listening before buying is recommended.
