The second album of the Tangent shows only slight progress since their debut... The compositions are quite alike and show little bit of repetition. However, the UK singer and keyboardist Andy Tillison has done quite good job (it's hard to improve since their debut was really good).
The compositions are entertaining and diverse in some ways... Unfortunately the Tangent seems to relapse into gimmickry every now and then, thus songs could be better. However, the songs are quite good as such. There are some really good parts, which make this record worthwhile.
The productional side of this album is very good... There are only some slight details (such as few minor clips) that degrade the overall production rating, but otherwise the sounds are great. The recording is quite clean without lacking atmosphere.
If you liked the previous Tangent album, you'll probably like this one as well... It doesn't differ a lot from the debut in terms of compositions, sound and style. However, it isn't identical either ;) If you're a friend of melodic progressive rock, I recommend you to check out the Tangent. However, be aware that there are other even better melodic progrock bands out there, which you should check out first. Trust your ears and listen to see for yourself what you like.
