Please Describe Yourself is the debut album of a new band "Dogs Die in Hot Cars" coming from UK. Previously they've only released some singles, but this time they're releasing a full-length album. Occasionally the singer sounds similar to the Darkness' singer Justin Hawkins and there are some U2 influences audible (guitar work).

Songs are quite ordinary (nothing exceptional), but some of them have working hooklines. Stylistically the songs are mainly pop. To give some sort of insight to their music, they've been compared to Talking Heads, XTC, Dexy's Midnight Runners and Madness. There's also some Red Hot Chili Peppers influences audible (which the band cites as one of their influences). Songs aren't especially great (no great melodies or anything)... So this is pretty average pop album with very little diversity (it's quite boring). Well it's suitable for background music as it doesn't have any qualities that would instantly grab your attention.

This album was produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley. In the past, they've produced Blur, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Bush, Madness, David Bowie and Elvis Costello among others. I don't know who mixed this album, but whoever he is, he needs practice in mixing cymbals. Actually the sounds are otherwise quite good (only the cymbals, hi-hat etc. need work). The overall mix is clean without lacking atmosphere.

All in all, this album is average pop album... It has nothing great about it the quality of songs is even. However, if you're a fan of the band or the genre, you might like this album. Although it wasn't for me, it might be for you.
