Steve Vai is, along with Joe Satriani, one of the most well known guitar virtuosos. This album made Steve famous, and he started to get worldwide recognition. Guitar magazines were full of articles concerning this guitarwizard.

What is great about this album is its diversity. There are songs from ballads to really experimental stuff. Unfortunately, it is also the only drawback of the album... Some of the more experimental stuff isn't so great to listen to. To name an example, listen to Alien Water Kiss (in my honest opinion it's little bit annoying to listen with headphones, sorry Steve).

Anyway, with this album Steve Vai broke the barriers (like Joe Satriani). It's a milestone in instrumental guitar music. You should definately check this album out, if you haven't already.
