HellFireRockMachine is the second album of the German "rock 'n' roll" band Skeletor (4 years have passed since the release of their first album). Skeletor plays Hard Rock in the style of Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, Rose Tattoo and Ted Nugent. What's most amazing about Skeletor's HellFireRockMachine is its diversity... This album is nicely fluctuating.
Songs are filled with catchy hooklines and witty lyrics... First I wasn't that impressed with this album, but soon I noticed that this album grows on you. So I found myself liking quite a lot of its songs. There's straightforward hard rock songs and ballads. It's amazing how diverse the singer is... He really sounds similar to Ozzy Osbourne and David Lee Roth on certain tracks. For example, on the chorus of Bitch Keeps on Rockin' the singer sounds surprisingly similar to David Lee Roth. By the way, my favourite songs are Trust Nobody, Spader, To Be a Star, Rock 'n' Roll Man and Rat Race.
The production on this album is good (it was produced by Iron Savior's bassist Yenz Leonhardt). Sounds are most of the time quite felicitous... Only slight, brief distortion could be heard every so often. Probably this results from recording procedure rather than mastering too loud.
All in all, HellFireRockMachine is a good buy for fans of classic hard rock. I warmly recommend you to check it out. Ultraconservatives may be disturbed by the lyrics, though. The chorus of Rock 'n' Roll Man is following: "Rock 'n' Roll man... I'm gonna fuck you if I can... oh aah, oh aah... That's what I am... So get ready if you can..."
